We are pleased to announce that Dr Liana Gasparre, Senior Partner, will present a paper at the 21st International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ICSMGE) in Vienna on 16 June 2026.
The paper, “Clay structure and K₀ measurements”, is co-authored with Professor Matthew Coop and Ms Serena Che, Senior Geotechnical Engineer at GCG, and has been selected for both oral presentation and poster display.
The research highlights the importance of using consolidation procedures in triaxial and direct shear testing that preserve the in-situ mean effective stress of structured clays. It shows that maintaining the clay structure is essential for the reliable assessment of earth pressure at rest (K₀).
Liana will also chair the 8th Bishop Lecture by Prof. Federica Cotecchia.
