Geotechnical Consulting Group (GCG) is pleased to announce that Dr Chris Menkiti, Senior Partner, will be delivering the prestigious Evert Hoek Keynote Lecture at the African Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference, to be held in Lagos, Nigeria, from 26 to 29 April 2026.
The conference is being organised under the auspices of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE)
Dr Menkiti will present on Monday 27 April 2026 (Day 2). His lecture will explore the relevance of geotechnical engineering for development, drawing on pertinent and interesting case histories.
The presentation will highlight key lessons learned, with a particular focus on the importance of understanding the underlying mechanisms of ground behaviour. Where relevant, it will link macro-scale ground responses governing engineering problems to micro-scale soil fabric and particulate behaviour.
