Shipping

In shipping, our contributions have shaped international safety standards: we played a key role in the Iron Ore Fines research that underpins the revised IMO schedules for IRON ORE (Group C) and IRON ORE FINES (Group A), and co-authored the Global Bauxite Working Group’s report to the IMO, which led to the new schedules for BAUXITE (Group C) and BAUXITE FINES (Group A). Our research on moisture-induced instabilities in bauxite cargoes has been instrumental in improving maritime safety.

In mining, we bring specialist knowledge in hydraulic and dry stacking, heap leaching, and the geotechnical challenges associated with mine waste and pit slope stability. Our services include:

  • Forensic investigations and litigation support for insurance losses and operational claims
  • Due diligence on geotechnical and construction aspects of mining projects
  • Ground investigation and site characterisation
  • Analysis and design of pit slopes and tailings dams
  • Stability assessments of coal stockpiles and port cargo storage
  • Evaluation of cargo behaviour in ocean-going vessels

We set global standards in cargo safety and solve critical geotechnical challenges across mining and maritime sectors
