GCG have been engaged to provide expert advice and analysis on the potential hydrogeological impacts of proposed basement developments beneath various existing dwellings and gardens within the London Borough of Camden (site details remain confidential).
Our work involved a detailed review of local geological and hydrogeological conditions and the assessment of the influence of the proposed basement excavations on groundwater flow patterns. Noting the bearing ground, whether Bagshot Bed, Claygate Members or London Clay, we evaluated the potential for adverse impacts of the proposed basement constructions on the surrounding environment, and, in some occasions, we used seepage analyses to complete and validate our assessment.
In line with the requirements of the Camden Local Plan, we identified risks also related to surface flooding and advised on appropriate mitigation measures to ensure compliance with local planning policy and best practice in basement development.
For several years, we have been retained as external advisors on Basement Impact Assessment for the Borough of Camden.
