Professor Lord Robert Mair Appointed Chair of the House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology

We are delighted to announce that Professor Lord Robert Mair has been appointed Chair of the House of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology, with effect from 30th January 2025.

A distinguished geotechnical engineer and a Crossbench Peer since 2015, Lord Mair has played a pivotal role in major underground construction projects worldwide, including the Jubilee Line Extension and Crossrail (now the Elizabeth Line). He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, where he served as Senior Vice-President (2008–2011), a Fellow of the Royal Society and a Foreign Member of the US National Academy of Engineering. His leadership and expertise will be invaluable in guiding the committee’s work.
