Network Rail Earthworks Review Final Report – Prepared by a task force led by GCG’s Founding Partner Professor Lord Robert Mair
In the aftermath of the fatal derailment at Carmont near Stonehaven in August 2020, GCG’s founding partner Professor Lord Robert Mair was asked to Chair an independent expert panel and task force to review Network Rail’s approaches to earthworks management.
In addition to Lord Mair, the panel comprised Dr David Hight of GCG and Brian McGinnity formerly of London Underground. The task force also included John Davis and Dr Nesha Kovacevic of GCG, Professor David Petley of Sheffield University, Professor William Powrie of Southampton University and Professor Andrew McNaughton, former Technical Director of HS2 Ltd and former Chief Engineer of Network Rail.
