GCG Founding Partner, Lord Robert Mair, Appointed to House of Lords Select Committee on the Built Environment
We are proud to announce that GCG’s founding partner, Professor Lord Robert Mair, has been appointed to the House of Lords Select Committee on the Built Environment, effective from 31st January 2024.
The Built Environment Committee was appointed in June 2015, to consider matters relating to the built environment, including policies relating to housing, planning, transport, and infrastructure. Lord Robert Mair is a geotechnical engineer with more than 50 years of experience in research and practice, who founded GCG in 1983 together with David Hight and Peter Vaughan. A Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Royal Society, and a Foreign Member of the National Academy of Engineering (USA). Lord Mair specialises in geotechnical aspects of many types of underground construction and has advised on numerous projects both in the UK and worldwide. He founded the Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC) at Cambridge, which pioneers new techniques for sensing performance of infrastructure.
